Burlington County DVD Review by Haunted America Tours - July 24, 2010 

 

This is Lisa Lee Harp Waugh, coming at you with a review of the newest group of ghost hunters, west of the Mississippi!!!

The group is led by none other than famed Dan Marro of The E.S.P. Dark Harvest Radio Program.  E.S.P. stands for Event Supernatural and Paranormal. It is the flagship for the E.S.P. documentary/web series and the home of the Dark Harvest Radio Program. Let me say, he is an excellent well informed host. The intro of this film was fresh exciting, and had me sitting on the edge of my seat, just waiting to see what was going to happen next. I also, liked how he did short bio's and intro's on the group before the investigation started. And as many of us know this is something so few paranormal documentaries too often forget to do.

They start off on their investigation with a tour of the Burlington County Prison Museum in Mount Holly, New jersey, known for its many sad stories and ghostly haunting.

Now at this point in my review, I have to state that Marrisa, the little tour guide that showed off the museum for the group, was pregnant. I have personally been very firm in my beliefs that a pregnant woman should never be in nor around anything that is haunted. But it seems to be her personal choice to do so. It is just not good for the expecting mother or the baby.  But, enough said about this subject. The old prison is really interesting with its statues, and small cells, where noted that back in the day, up to 5 people were placed in a cell at a time. Both men and women were housed together in this prison, but in separate parts, never together. Sometimes, even juveniles were even placed in cells with the women. And so the past daily fears and terrific horrors of life here at the time produced the very real hauntings of today.

 

Out of the group, I enjoyed Michelle the most. Not only is she cute as a button, but she was so serious about what she was doing and very informative.  Only, Michelle, please stop the gum chewing when the camera is on you girl! It was very distracting.

The EMF readings were great. Dan was very direct in giving his educational and helpful explanations to what was going on and how EMF readings can be affected by cameras, plumbing pipes, and even outside traffic. The group had some super readings and especially the segment of question and answering by unseen entities. As if the ghosts were answering Dan when he question them. He got a spooky, almost demonic sounding voice recording, close to the gallows of the prison, and, the "orb" video coverage with the girls in the hall was very eye catching, although Joe, the groups video man and skeptic, doesn't know if its dust, or a bug, but it looks pretty convincing to me, Joe! I love Joe. You always need a good skeptic in your group to keep you on your toes!

 

Dan also explains during the film how hours can go by, with nothing spectacular happening such as readings, screams, or bumps in the night.  Most films make you think there are ghostly happenings the whole time it's being investigated. 

 

Thanks Dan for a view of the truth of ghost hunting, and how it's not all a bowl full of ghostly delights! This group went twice to the same location and went through the process of trying to recreate their previous findings. That is yet another thing the Scify channel groups normally do not show.  And to me this is Excellent!! The final discussion scene was great.  The group has a comradery that shows well on film. Laughing ad really coming over as normal, fun loving friends.

 

In closing my review, the only negatives I can point out were Marissa, the pregnant tour guide, Michelle smacking her gum, and just very occasionally, Joe got a little shaky with the camera. Dan Marro, let me just say, you and your group of fellow ghost hunters had me wanting more.  More in the way; I cannot wait till your next film!  Keep your same group, because they were all wonderful and work well together.

 

Thank you for a popcorn eating, film viewing, kind of night!!! I recommend everyone that thinks their ghost hunting films out there are the best, to take the time to add this exceptional haunted jewel to your personal collection. Excellent job!!!!

 

I would give E.S.P. Event Supernatural and Paranormal at the Burlington County Prison  4 skulls. This is the stuff that real ghost hunting and paranormal exploration and investigation is really all about!
